Eleventh Hour Plea for Volunteers!
…well, maybe 10:30…
The Tucson
Celtic Festival is fast approaching the first weekend of
November. This 2½ day
Festival takes a whole year to plan and organize and two
critical days to all come together.
This
year, the Festival Field Manager, the person responsible
for the execution of these most excellent plans, has had
to bow out at this late date due to health and family issues.
It happens.
Putting the Festival together is an enormous
job and we are in desperate need of a small army
of responsible, respectful, flexible, fun-loving, get-it-done
kind of Volunteers on Thursday, Oct 30 from about 8:30am-5:00pm
and Friday, Oct 31 from about 7:30am-5:00pm for set-up tasks
like the following:
- Setting up tables & chairs
- Decorating Information & Entertainment
tents & Kids
area tents
- Setting up temporary perimeter fencing for sheepherding
area
- Putting together two dance stages
- Helping with speakers & sound
setup at several locations
- Putting up various signs
- Helping set up small pop-up tents
(tent vendor does all the big tents)
- Helping clansmen to
their tent locations & assisting
their set-up
- A variety of other tasks & errands,
etc.
The work will be physical in nature ranging
from light to moderately demanding.
A Volunteer
meeting will be planned around the middle of October for
creating a schedule of times & tasks
on Thurs & Fri. Time & Place will be announced
soon.
Bring
some friends, meet some new ones. We’ll
have a great time doing a great job! Volunteers are asked
to contribute at least 4 hours but you might be having
a great time and want to stay longer! Festival
Admission passes will be offered in appreciation. Lunch
and water will be provided each set-up day for those donating
at least 4 hrs.
